Delaware Association of Realtors celebrates key legislative wins

July 11, 2025

As the 153rd Delaware General Assembly came to a close June 30, Delaware Association of Realtors President Scott Farnan highlighted the organization's key victories and its continued commitment to promoting housing affordability and protecting private property rights.

“The 153rd General Assembly was a landmark session for Realtors and homeowners across Delaware. Thanks to the strong advocacy of our members and partners, we secured major victories that will have a lasting impact on the state’s housing landscape,” said Farnan.

Among the most significant wins was the success of DAR’s 1% for Housing campaign. “We are encouraged by the further investment of over $40 million in total housing-related investments in this year’s budget, a critical step toward increasing the supply of affordable housing in Delaware for tomorrow,” said Farnan.

DAR played a vital role in shaping several other pieces of legislation by working collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, from housing advocates and legal experts to state agencies and industry partners. Through these efforts, DAR successfully influenced bill language to reduce burdens on housing providers, preserve due process in landlord-tenant proceedings and protect the rights of property owners.

“These outcomes reflect our core mission: ensuring that every Delawarean has access to safe, affordable housing while safeguarding the rights of property owners and real estate professionals,” Farnan said. “We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, but the work continues. We look forward to collaborating with legislators, stakeholders and our members in the months ahead to shape meaningful, forward-looking housing policy.”
