Delaware CAN hosts happy hour at Surf Cantina
The Delaware Cannabis Advocacy Network hosted a Legal Delaware Happy Hour at the Big Chill Surf Cantina in Rehoboth Aug. 2. The event featured cannabis-themed games, raffles, prizes, items for sale and literature on cannabis legalization in Delaware.
Zoë Patchell, Delaware CAN executive director, said she was pleased with the turnout for the happy hour. She said the event was being used as a way to keep people interested in the cause while the General Assembly was out of session and as a fundraising event for the all-volunteer advocacy network.
Delaware CAN supports the passage of House Bill 110, which ends civil and criminal penalties for cannabis possession, legalizes seven illegal acts related to the possession and consumption of cannabis, and allows for mandatory expungements for possession offenses occurring prior to decriminalization. It also converts the current criminal market for cannabis to a regulated industry.
HB110 passed the House Finance and Revenue Committee June 5. It was then placed in the House Appropriations Committee, where it will sit waiting for the General Assembly to resume business in January 2020.
