Delaware Day Trivia Night set for Dec. 4

Delaware Day Trivia Night will be held across the state Thursday, Dec. 4, at various locations in each county, an event leading up to the 250th anniversary of America’s independence with celebrations July 4, 2026.

In Sussex County, doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with trivia held 7 to 8 p.m., at Delaware Technical Community College, Georgetown Campus, and Dewey Beer Company in Harbeson. The first 50 attendees at each physical location will receive a Delaware 250 swag bag. 

“Delaware Day is a chance to celebrate the people and history that shaped our state and our country,” said Gov. Matt Meyer in a statement. “I’m excited to join Delawareans live for a fun, statewide trivia night as we head toward America’s 250th anniversary and reflect on the First State’s lasting impact.” 

Secretary of State Charuni Patibanda-Sanchez will join Meyer for a live broadcast of the Matt’s Chats podcast during Delaware Day Trivia Night. 

In Kent County, trivia will be held at Rail Haus and the MLK Student Center at Delaware State University; in New Castle County, trivia sites are Autumn Arch Beer Project in Newark and the FinTech301 at the University of Delaware’s STAR Campus.

Officials said the six sites provide an optional opportunity to join neighbors and fellow Delaware history enthusiasts. 

And there will be prizes for the top trivia players  – $1,000 for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third. Four random $50 door-prize drawings will be given as well. 

Anyone 18 or older can participate in the Delaware Day Trivia Night at home or with friends, or individually on participants’ phones, offering a fun and accessible way to celebrate Delaware history. 

During the hour-long live broadcast, Meyer and Patibanda-Sanchez will share insights and commentary, streaming on the State of Delaware’s Facebook and YouTube pages. The broadcast will also be available to watch or listen to later on Spotify, Apple Music and Gov. Meyer’s YouTube page.
