Delaware Futures provides youth guidance toward lifelong goals
Delaware Futures announced a group of 15 local students are in the process of learning the inner workings of operating a business and cutting hair.
Before participants even lift a pair of scissor, Keith Harmon of Visions Salon and Barbershop in Millsboro demonstrates how branding, marketing and work ethic can make or break success. These lessons will follow students into any career path they choose. Attendees develop problem-solving skills, learn specific haircuts and leave with a wealth of knowledge they can carry into the workforce. Upon completion, Delaware Futures will provide each of the 15 championed students with a set of clippers, trimmers and a cape to take home with them. Harmon is a father, husband and associate pastor with Dagsboro Church of God.
Delaware Futures the only statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing student academics and improving future educational outcomes. It uses a comprehensive youth- and family-focused approach to guiding students towards their lifelong goals.
Students are learning the importance of building community partnerships, becoming strong, accountable leaders and the fiscal responsibility of maintaining a business. These experiences allow Delaware Futures’ youth to explore their passions, desires and future dreams while determining what steps they hope to take as their journey into adulthood progresses.
