Delaware Resorts Expos celebrates 25 years of spring shows

Kathy Benson, founder of Delaware Resorts Expos, couldn’t hide her excitement the morning of April 15. Normally bursting with positivity and sporting an infectious smile, Benson was particularly excited because after celebrating 25 years of spring shows last year, this spring’s show, due to COVID-19, was the 25th annual Spring Home Expo. 

A large display of balloons, assembled free of charge by Bubbly Balloons Co. owner Lauren Williams, celebrated the quarter-century mark. Along with balloons spelling out 25 years, the display featured unique star balloons similar to fireworks.

Benson and her husband Bob have been working since the late 1990s to bring the home shows to the Cape Region. Pandemic restrictions, while frustrating, proved navigable for the Bensons and their team, allowing Delaware Resorts Expo to properly celebrate the 25th edition of the event. The shows offer a variety of businesses and consumers a chance to network and connect with one another under one roof.

Sponsoring the 2023 version were Clean Cut Pavers & Pools, Coastal Bath, Energize Delaware, Delaware Retiree Connection, Forrest Fence, Julie Gritton-Coldwell Banker, Patio Systems and Soaring Solar. More than 90 exhibitors had booths, including builders, mortgage companies, financial services, insurance companies, Realtors, developers and home product companies.

The two-day event benefited Sussex County Habitat for Humanity. More information about Delaware Resorts Expos is available at deexpos.com.

Gavin Birl and Chris Rubino have expanded GC Studios beyond photography prints and have begun jarring their own pickles. Available for $5 per jar, the pickles come in dill, hot and Old Bay. While neither aren’t the biggest fans of traditional pickles, their creation provides the consistency of a cucumber and flavor of a pickle.
