Delaware State Fair concerts canceled

Officials hold out hope for fair
April 27, 2020

All Delaware State Fair concerts have been canceled, but officials are moving forward with plans to host the fair as scheduled.

Delaware State Fair Assistant General Manager Danny Aguilar said officials do not believe M&T Bank grandstand is an environment where proper social distancing can be achieved, even if some of the elements of the governor’s state-of-emergency edict have been lifted. Set to perform this year were Hank Williams Jr., country singers Chris Janson and Dierks Bentley, and comedian Jim Gaffigan.

Aguilar said fair officials are working with vendors to plan for the 2020 fair, set for July 23-Aug. 1.

“We in fact are planning for a fair,” Aguilar said. “It’s going to look different than past fairs, but we are working closely with our state officials to ensure we provide a very safe environment for families to come and visit. We need to make decisions based off of facts, statistics, and we really look toward our state officials.”
