The Delaware State Police's community outreach program hosted a community dodgeball tournament at the Sussex Family YMCA Thursday, March 19 that allowed young people from the local area to get exercise and have fun with the troopers from the area..
"We wanted to get the local kids involved with the state troopers," said Cpl. Matt Blakeman of Troop 7 in Lewes. "It's great to get the kids playing ball with others."
Nearly 50 local children played in the three hour tournament and finished off the event with refreshments for the participants involved.
Partial funding for the event was obtained through the Delaware Criminal Justice Council by the Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services of the Delaware Children's Department.
