DelDOT deserves kudos for improvement

March 18, 2021

We have lived in this area for almost seven years. In that time, DelDOT has been and continues to be severely criticized for what DelDOT doesn’t do or doesn’t do fast enough, and not enough time on what DelDOT gets right. I give credit where credit is due. Recently, DelDOT and our elected local officials have heard, listened to and positively responded to calls for improving traffic safety at the intersection of Indian Mission, Phillips Branch and Harmons Hill roads. An all-way stop has been implemented at this dangerous intersection.  Thanks to DelDOT officials including former Secretary Jennifer Cohan, current Secretary Nicole Majeski and Peter Haag, state Sen. Brian Pettyjohn and Rep. Ruth Briggs-King for their efforts to bring about these needed safety improvements. Many thanks to all of our fellow neighbors, area HOAs and developers for their support of these safety improvements which will undoubtedly save lives and reduce the risk of major life-changing injuries.  Clearly, adjusting to the new traffic pattern will take a bit of time and patience. There are some who will not be thrilled to have to slow down, stop and proceed with caution through this intersection, but keep in mind the life you save may be your own or a loved one’s.
