DelDOT to host Milton traffic meeting June 4

Department seeks public input on planning efforts
June 3, 2024

The Delaware Department of Transportation will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, at Milton Elementary School to solicit public feedback on traffic-planning efforts both within town and on Route 16.

DelDOT is conducting two planning efforts related to traffic in Milton. The first is the Milton Active Transportation Plan, which is looking at ways to improve bicycling and walking in town. The second is the Coastal Corridors study, which is looking at traffic improvements on Route 16 through Milton, which has become one of the more popular routes to the beach over the last decade.

At the open house, DelDOT officials will be on hand to provide background, purpose and the next steps of the two planning efforts. However, the main thrust of the open house is to get public feedback on citizens’ ideas for what can be done to improve walking and biking in Milton, as well as how traffic can be moved more efficiently on Route 16. Those wishing to attend can drop in any time between 5 and 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Milton elementary.

DelDOT plans to issue its final report on the active transportation plan in January, while a draft report on the Coastal Corridors study is expected in spring 2025.
