The Delmarva Christian boys’ lacrosse team kept its season-opening offensive explosion going March 29, with a 15-2 win over visiting McKean. The Royals have scored 26 goals in their two victories, while allowing just six.

“I felt it was a total team effort with seven different players scoring,” said Royals head coach Jeff “Moose” Mohr. “We did real well moving the ball on offense and in the second half did much better on the ground balls.”

Mohr, who led the Cape Vikings team to a state championship final in 1996, was quick to praise his players.

“Brady Smith had a career day with five goals,” said Mohr. “It’s the most he has ever scored. He did a great job getting open in front of the goal and finishing it in the net.”

Adding to the Royals’ goals were Hunter Smith with three, Sutton Bennett and Chase Wilson scoring two, and Trevor Davies, Colin Anderson, and Matthew Jenson with one apiece.

It’s the first time in school history that the squad has gone 2-0 to begin a season.

“Our goalie Colby Morris had a great day for someone who started playing goalie a month ago,” Mohr said.

Morris ended the game with eight saves.

Levi Stilwell and Matthew Adamson scored for the Highlanders.

The Royals were set to travel to Delcastle Monday, April 1, for a contest with the Cougars.
