Dewey Edward Wingo, Dover resident
Dewey Edward Wingo, 71, of Dover, peacefully departed this life Friday, March 27, 2015, at Compassionate Care Hospice, St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington.
Dewey was born Feb. 23, 1944. He was preceded in death by his father, Pearl Edward Wingo and his mother, Elsie Leticia (Dunning) Wingo. Dewey lived his early years in Lewes, where he was surrounded by many family members and friends. He always recalled the fun growing up in Lewes. Dewey attended William C. Jason High School, and he left high school to enter the Army. He spent a short stint in the U.S. Army at Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Upon his return to Lewes, he worked a variety of jobs. He met his best friend, who later became his wife, Minnie Coleman, and he moved to Dover to start his life with her.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Minnie Wingo of Dover; his children: Terry Bolden, Lisa Wingo, Corey Wingo, John Lee Hunter, all of Dover, and son, Anthony “Nate” Hodges; the rest of his family, his brother, P. Robert Wingo (Marilyn) of Milton; and his sister, Zwanda Wingo of Dover; and several nephews, nieces and many cousins.
The services for Dewey were private with family members. The family would like to thank family and friends for their prayers and comfort during this time of loss.
