DFRC Gold squad holds last practice before all-star game

Annual senior football contest set June 21 at University of Delaware

The DFRC Gold football team held its final scrimmage at Milford’s Briggs Stadium June 19. The squad will meet the Blue team Friday, June 21, at Tubby Raymond Field for the 2024 DFRC Blue-Gold All-Star Football Game.

Students from 48 schools throughout Delaware will represent their alma maters at the 68th annual game.

In addition to the athletes on the field, each game includes band members and cheerleaders along with student ambassadors from the DFRC Blue-Gold program. 

Each year, the Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens with Intellectual Disabilities distributes proceeds from its fundraising events to nonprofit organizations and agencies that enrich the lives of Delaware citizens with intellectual disabilities.

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
