Distilling in Delaware lecture set in Lewes Oct. 22
The Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes will host Distilling in Delaware, a lecture on the history of distilling in the First State, at 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22. The speaker will be Mike Rasmussen, co-founder of Painted Stave Distilling in Smyrna.
In 2011, Rasmussen and Ron Gomes Jr. co-founded Painted Stave Distilling which crafts premium spirits in small batches by using ingredients sourced from regional farms and by blending traditions of the past with today’s creativity and state-of-the-art technology. Presented in coordination with the museum’s exhibit Wine and Spirits in Delaware: Producing, Preserving and Presenting, the program will include a tasting of some of the company’s products.
The program will be held on the museum’s second floor with entry via staircase. There is no elevator. Admission is free but, due to space restrictions, reservations are required by Friday, Oct. 21. For more information or to make a reservation, call 302-645-1148.
