Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton welcomed in flannel shirt weather with the brewery’s second annual Harvest Fest, a celebration of beer, music and the changing colors of the leaves.
Dogfish’s Tasting Room Manager Matt Fetherston said, “We like to do this in the offseason. Bring in some local vendors. Mother Nature said, ‘Let’s do this,’ and gave us beautiful weather.”
Vendors at the Oct. 8 festival included KAM Productions, Tall Oak Trading, Art By George, Byzantine Sky Press, the Developing Artist Collaboration and Brandywine Valley SPCA, which brought dogs available for adoption. Also taking part was Toys For Tots, which is this month’s Tasting Room charity, with tips donated to a specific cause. Musical acts included Homestead Bluegrass Band, DJ 45 and Hot Sauce Band.
The event also saw the release of Dogfish’s new collaboration beer, Deep Delish, a strong ale brewed with Fifer Orchards and Dewey Beer Company. The beer, coming in at 9.7 ABV, is copper in color and is inspired by maple apple crisp, using apple cider from Fifer Orchards along with vanilla beans and spices.
“It’s kind of reminiscent of what grandma would make,” Fetherston said.
The festival wasn’t just for humans, as plenty of pooches were at the festival, including Harley Quinn, who came in her best costume.
