Dogfish Head Lacrosse wins Ocean City Classic

Team takes fourth straight title

The Dogfish Head Lacrosse Masters team earned its fourth straight Ocean City Lacrosse Classic title Aug. 13, with a 10-2 win over sixth-seeded ECD Lacrosse at Ocean City’s Northside Park. Dogfish moved into the finals with an 8-1 victory over the Jack Lingo team in the semifinals Aug. 12.

Dogfish Head had previously lost to ECD 9-8 in pool play Aug. 11, but defeated The Crew (1-0) and The Original Greene Turtle (14-2).

No. 1-seeded Lingo had defeated the SAR hounds (16-1), HD Elite (13-3) and Das Ducks (14-3) before the matchup with the fourth-seeded Dogfish squad. 

 

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
