Dolores Faries, church volunteer

Dolores Faries, 76, of Lewes passed away from breast cancer Saturday, July 7, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at home. She was born Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1941, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Henry O. Fry and Loretta (Brady) Robinson.

Dolores grew up in the Flats of Wilmington, graduating with the class of 1959 from Wilmington High School. She was a sister of Beta Signa Phi sorority and attended events with them all her life. Dolores worked a 25-plus year career with Airbase Carpet Mart in New Castle up until retirement in 2003 when she moved to Lewes.

She was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church where she volunteered in the rectory weekly. In addition, Dolores was a member of the Lewes and Cape Henlopen senior centers and Quilts of Love. She enjoyed her winters in Ocean Isles in the Florida Keys. In the summer she loved playing games with her grandchildren, spending time at the beach, playing cards, and mahjong.

Dolores was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, Frank "Jake" Fry; and her sister, Loretta "Lee” Eggers. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert W. Faries; her son, Jeff Faries and wife Kris of New Castle; her daughters: Susan Faries-Burkholder of Lewes  and Michelle Faries of Lewes; her grandchildren: Lauren and husband Danny, Alexis, Ryan, Kevin and Lydia; and her brother, Henry (Butch) Fry and wife Debbie of Newark. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing Monday, July 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 17, at 11 a.m., at St. Jude The Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Dr.; Lewes, where friends may begin to call at 10 a.m. Interment will take place Wednesday, July 18, at 10 a.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
