Dominick J. Davolos, owned optical business

Dominick J. Davolos, 65, of Wilmington, died Friday, May 1, 2015, at home surrounded by his family.

Dominick attended Wilmington High School. He worked as an apprentice optician and later opened his own business in Elsmere, Davolos Optical Co. He and his wife also owned and operated Elsmere Italian Water Ice. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, pigeon racing, antique marbles and classic cars. Dominick retired early to spend time at a place he loved, Broadkill Beach. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Dominick A. and Josephine Davolos. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Juliaann (Fidance) Davolos; children, Dr. Christopher P. Davolos and his wife Laura, and Paul A. Davolos and his wife Kathryn; grandchildren, Siena, Leah, Leo and Joseph. He was loved by many cousins and extended family. His cousins Lisa, Frank, John and Toni Ann were like his brothers and sisters. He will be missed by many.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to noon, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 901 N. DuPont St., Wilmington, with memorial Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Burial will take place privately.
