Donald G. Verderosa Jr., avid sports fan
Donald G. Verderosa Jr., 66, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, relaxing at home.
He grew up in Toms River, N.J., and upon high school graduation, moved to West Virginia to attend Marshall University. After which, he lived in Ona, W.Va., and worked at Blenko Glass for several years. During his time in West Virginia, Donald was known to many as “Tiny.” He then moved back to New Jersey, raising his children in Brick, N.J. For the remainder of his career, Donald worked for Brandywine Assisted Living as a maintenance director in New Jersey and finally in Delaware.
Donald enjoyed the simpler things in life, watching his kids grow up and play sports, fishing, the beach, his animals, riding his motorcycle, classic cartoons, The Three Stooges, and of course, all things Marshall. (Go Herd!!) He was an avid sports fan, specifically football and college basketball. You always knew you could find him watching football on Sundays, and in March, watching March Madness.
Donald is survived by his wife, Joanne; his children, Donald Verderosa III of Huntington, W.Va., and Tiffany Verderosa of Newark; his three stepchildren, Lisa Clark of Wall, N.J., Jaime Clark of Bradley Beach, N.J., and Joey D’Agostino of Lakewood, N.J.; his grandchildren, Olivia, Alexandra, Samantha and Joshua; and his four-legged children, Macho, Sista and LuLu. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Paul Kelly and Susan Wong, both of Toms River, N.J., Teri Bush of San Diego, Calif., Roberta Emerson of Howell, N.J., and Charles Emerson of Seaside Heights, N.J.; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Joan and Chuck. He will be met at the rainbow bridge by Pippa, Bailey, ToGo, Diva, Texas and Luna.
A memorial service will be held and friends and family can pay their respects from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, at First Baptist Church of Manasquan, 47 S. St., Manasquan, N.J.
