Donald Lynn Derrickson, longtime business owner

Donald Lynn Derrickson, 78, of Lewes passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023. He was born July 20, 1945, in Lewes.

Don was a graduate of Rehoboth High School, and later he graduated from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, La. He served his country in the U.S. Navy where he achieved the rank of lieutenant as well as naval aviator, receiving his Navy Wings in Corpus Christi, Texas, and finishing his military service in the Naval Reserve.

Following his military service, he “came back home,” where he owned many businesses in the Rehoboth Beach area.

Over the years, he had served two terms as a Rehoboth Beach commissioner and had also served as president of the Rehoboth Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane; sons Bryan (Olivia) and grandgems Hannah, Abbey and Natalie; Spencer and grandson Logan; and Regan (Kim) and grandgems Anna and Samantha.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach.
