Dorothy Evans Lee, government retiree

Dorothy Evans Lee, 87, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Dorothy was born in Overland, Mo., daughter of the late Elmer and Hazel (Thompson) Evans.
 
Dorothy served during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force. After her military service, she worked for the Veterans Administration headquartered in Baltimore, Md. Her final position was as a division chief for the Contract Administration, retiring in 1986 after 25 years of service.  She enjoyed volunteering at Lewes Public Library for many years. Dorothy also loved to read, do embroidery and cross-stitch, as well as refinish furniture.
 
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband William King Lee in 2018 and her brother Bill Evans. 
 
She is survived by two sons, Denis Lee and his wife Barbara, and Bill Lee and his wife Carol; five grandchildren, Kris, Daniel, Kate, Andrew and Meghan; seven great-grandchildren, Carter, Alexander, Avery, Alanna, Kendall, Milo and Ramona; as well as four sisters, Myra, Sophie, Patricia and Carol.
 
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
 
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Lewes Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes, DE 19958, or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963.
