Dover Symphony Orchestra to open new season Oct. 13

The Dover Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Donald Buxton will open its 2018-19 season Saturday, Oct. 13. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. at Calvary Church, 1141 East Lebanon Road, Dover.

The fall classical concert, titled Baroque and Beyond, features works of two baroque-era composers: Bach's “Violin Concerto” with solo work performed by Concertmaster Stefan Xhori, and Handel's “Water Music Suite.” The program will conclude with a performance of Mozart’s “Symphony No. 40” making the transition into the early classical period. 

Again this season, sweet treats will be sold at the bake sale. Season tickets are available for $75 adults, $55 seniors/students/military/first responders. Single tickets are also available for all concerts; cost is $20 adults, $15 seniors (62+)/students/military/first responders. First responders include all police, fire, EMT, ambulance, corrections, and animal rescue personnel in the area. Young people under 18 are always free with a paying adult.
