Drama club to present interactive murder mystery Oct. 29-31
The Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School will present “Murder in the House of Poe,” an interactive, improvised murder mystery/comedy show, at 6 p.m., Wednesday to Friday, Oct. 29 to 31, at the Sussex Central campus, 26044 Patriots Way, Georgetown.
Shows will take place in an alternate performing space since the SCHS Theater is undergoing renovations. Tickets cost $15 per person and include light refreshments. They must be purchased online (no sales at the door) at bit.ly/SCHS_POE.
“We are so glad to be in the new school,” said David Warick, Take Two advisor and show director, “and our juniors and seniors are taking ownership of this hilarious, improvised mystery.”
The show is an interactive murder mystery in which many of Poe’s most famous characters gather for a grand masquerade ball thrown by the infamous (and annoying) Prince Prospero. But when Prospero meets a grisly, poetic end, the audience — helped by Poe himself — must uncover which of the suspects has committed the crime. Throughout, the audience is guided by clues, misdirections and improvised conversations with the mad characters of Poe’s dark world.
“Best of all,” said Warick, “the audience member who guesses who committed the murder, how and why (most completely) is eligible to win a fantastic prize, with runners-up also getting some fun gifts!”
The show is for teen and adult audiences only, as it features some simulated gore and pretend violence.
All proceeds from the show are directly used to further the nonprofit mission of Take Two Drama Club to promote theater education and production in Sussex County.
