After nearly a year of construction, Drift, a seafood and raw bar, is open in Rehoboth Beach.

Drift is located in a 130-year-old camp meeting house on Baltimore Avenue and is the first project completed by Second Block Hospitality Group, a team comprising The Pines owners Bob Suppies, Tyler Townsend, David Gonce and Chef Lion Gardner. The structure underwent a top-to-bottom, front-to-back renovation.

“It was a labor of love from the start to save this house,” said Suppies. “Too many people are quick to tear down older houses. Our team was able to merge the historic significance of this 1890 original camp house with a modern feel as if the building was maintained for over 100 years.”

Suppies recognizes the midsummer opening, but he said he thinks there’s a strong opening team.

“We all are so excited to share Drift with the last of the summer visitors and with the locals as we head into shoulder season,” said Suppies.

Drift’s menu features fresh-from-the-ocean and farm-to-table selections daily, said Suppies. Chef Tom Wiswell, Suppies continued, has built strong relationships with many local farmers and fishermen, so his team can create the best dishes using the highest-quality ingredients.

Drift, 42 ½ Baltimore Ave., is open 4 to 10 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. For now, said Suppies, there’s also Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but it might be removed in the future. It’s being tested for a few weeks, he said.
