Dynamic Physical Therapy moves to bigger clinic in Lewes

February 17, 2015

Dynamic Physical Therapy announces its Lewes clinic has moved to a larger office at 1415 Savannah Road. The expanded space includes an inground, heated pool which will bring a much-needed therapeutic service to the Lewes area.

Aquatic therapy programs have many benefits. An aquatic environment allows for improved tolerance to functional movements and range of motion when normal functioning is limited by chronic pain, muscle spasms, or debility. The water provides an alternative environment for re-education of weak muscles and skill development for neurological and neuromuscular impairment.

For those who have weight-bearing limitations, the buoyancy of water is desirable following surgical precautions. Maintaining a warm water temperature for gentle exercise can bring additional relief to patients managing arthritis and fibromyalgia pain.

Dynamic has always offered a sports medicine program, but the addition of new equipment allows for even more specialized rehabilitation programs. With the increased awareness of athletic head injuries, physical therapists are taking an important role in concussion treatment. The new location offers physician-prescribed baseline and post-injury concussion testing, as well as five-stage athletic recovery programs.

The Lewes clinic is managed by facility Director Regidor Verzosa, PT. He joined the Dynamic team in 2008 after practicing as a physical therapist in the Philippines for nine years. His clinical experience includes post-surgical orthopedics, sports injuries, gait/balance abnormalities, fall prevention, and vestibular rehabilitation for the treatment of inner ear disorders and concussions. In his free time, he enjoys staying active with bike riding, swimming, basketball, and camping with his family.

Verzosa is joined by physical therapy assistant Sharon Baxley, PTA, who brings over 21 years of clinical experience to form a knowledgeable rehabilitation team for patients. Baxley is a 1993 graduate of the Northern Virginia Community College Physical Therapy Assistant program. She has a particular interest in treating sports and running injuries, repetitive-use injuries, and providing education for injury prevention. Outside of the clinic, Baxley’s personal interests include spending time with her family, playing tennis, and cheering for her son’s travel baseball team.

Lewes is one of five Dynamic Physical Therapy locations in Sussex County led by regional Director Katie Rickards, MPT. A native of Lewes and a Cape Henlopen High School graduate, Rickards is thrilled to see how much Dynamic has grown since the opening of the Long Neck clinic in 2003. She credits the growth to a supportive medical community and an extremely loyal family of patients who have trusted Dynamic with their care while recommending it to friends and family.

All Dynamic PT locations provide specialized treatment programs for balance and vestibular, fall prevention, and sports medicine. Specialty services including aquatic therapy, work conditioning, occupational therapy, certified hand therapy, and lymphedema management are available at certain locations.
