East Coast Chiropractic and Wellness welcomes new doctor

June 17, 2021

When starting East Coast Chiropractic and Wellness in 2018, Dr. Carri Murray brought her personal experience into the business.

The practice began with offering chiropractor and acupuncture services, then expanded last year despite the COVID pandemic. Murray and her team worked through the restrictions and have made it out the other side, now offering more services than ever, ranging from traditional chiropractic to Class IV Cold Laser treatment.

The practice offers therapies for different needs, including cupping and cold laser treatment. Murray wanted the practice to be different from a typical chiropractor’s office. She wanted patients to have options and services to find what works best for them.

“I didn't want to do just traditional chiropractic; I wanted to have other modalities, therapies and services, just to be able to have an array,” Murray said.

Murray grew up in Milford and is a graduate of Wesley College and the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Fla.

In March of this year, the business welcomed Dr. Jenn Scanlon. A native of Maryland, Scanlon is also a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange. Prior to graduation, she completed a preceptorship with East Coast Chiropractic.

Scanlon works with cold laser and massage therapy. She said she’s enjoyed her experience working in the chiropractic setting. Scanlon doesn’t have a specialty yet, but is currently working on certification with animals. Animal care will be offered soon at the practice after regulations are sorted out.

Office manager and chiropractic assistant Danielle Normandia is a graduate of California State Fullerton with a B.S. in health science and a minor in kinesiology.

Practice Director Jake Murray works in personal training and rehabilitation. When the office expanded last year, Murray converted the next-door unit, a former barbershop, into a gym area where patients can do exercises and training.

The practice also offers massage therapy. Licensed massage therapist Tina Jones is a graduate of the Baltimore School of Massage and utilizes many techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, and prenatal massage. She also has a certification for manual lymphatic drainage, which is typically for people with breast cancer and lymphatics.

Toxins are stored in the lymphatic system, and the drainage treatment helps to keep the fluid stored in the lymphatics moving, especially to the extremities.

Murray also said the practice sells vitamins and other wellness products. CBD products are their best sellers.

East Coast Chiropractic is located at 1632 Savannah Road, Suite 2, Lewes, near Five Points. It is open Monday through Thursday, and by appointment only on Fridays. The office stays open until 7 p.m. every Tuesday.
