Eastern Shore artists to exhibit in Rehoboth Aug. 8-9

August 6, 2009

The Boardwalk Plaza Hotel will feature the fine art of Eastern Shore artists Shirley Elstrodt and Albert “Buck” Doughty Jr. for a show on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 8 and 9.

Elstrodt, born and raised in western Pennsylvania, has taken lessons from several leading artists in oil and watercolor. The beauty of the Eastern Shore inspired her to convert its natural wonders to watercolor and oil, thus sharing her interpretation of the shore’s serene beauty around her with the world. She loves the different technical characteristics and challenges of both watercolor and oil. Her work appears in several galleries and can be found throughout the United States. The exhibit at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel will feature a variety of Elstrodt’s works including landscapes, flowers and local wildlife.

For her showing at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, she will be joined by Doughty, a metal sculptor who will be displaying welded iron objects d’art. Examples of his work can be seen at hogislandcreations.com

The Boardwalk Plaza invites all art lovers to enjoy the exhibit free of charge from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, in its oceanfront banquet halls, located on the Boardwalk between Olive and Maryland avenues.
