A new antique furniture business called Eclectic Blend got off to a good start with its first ever public market, June 13-15.
Melissa Walker and Lynda Oakes dreamed up the idea after 43 years of working together.
Oakes said they’ve both been avid estate sellers and antiquarians, but they could only fill their homes with so much furniture. “This allows us to follow all of things we enjoy doing, without costing us a fortune,” Oakes said.
The store carries household items and furniture ranging from beautiful to fun and funky. Their redesigned cottage on Route 24 is hard to miss, with the massive Eclectic Blend sign positioned alongside the road.
Walker said the first weekend had been an absolute success. “We’ve had over 300 people so far, and this is only our second day,” Walker said. The feedback for the new shop has been so great, she said, that multiple people have come in twice or more a day for fear they missed out on a great deal.
The next time Eclectic Blend will be open is July 18, 19, and 20. For a full schedule of their monthly openings visit eclecticblend.com or visit their Facebook page for more photos and dates.
The store is at 22935 John Jay Williams Highway, Lewes.
