Eddie Sherman presents Manhattan supper club duo Nov. 30
Fresh off last month's successful four-night run of a True Blue Jazz Series in Rehoboth Beach, Eddie Sherman Presents returns to its Seaside Supper Club Series Saturday, Nov. 30, upstairs at Saketumi.
“This is our ninth show this year at Saketumi,” said Sherman Ward. “We jumped at the chance to bring in some real veteran performers of the supper club circuit from around the country.”
Rosemary Benson with Ward Marston and his trio have played supper club venues for years, carrying forward the musical legacy and timeless stories as told by the Great American Songbook's masters of lyric and song composition. Benson and Marston plan an evening dedicated to the wonderful lyricists of the Great American Songbook, including favorite standards and lesser-known songs from the archives of the legends of song and score.
Marston is the consummate pianist, having led big band orchestras and worked in the most intimate supper clubs including the Café Carlyle in Manhattan as he filled in for the great Bobby Short.
Benson is a former Atlantic City Entertainer of the Year and has performed across the U.S., Canada and Italy. Recently, she performed cabaret with Marston at the Metropolitan Room in New York City, Bob Egan's in New Hope, Pa., and Germano's in Baltimore.
Joining them are drummer Grant MacAvoy and bassist Jack Hegyi. Both of these musicians have been studio, theatrical stage and bandstand sidemen for the likes of Lionel Hampton, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, Connie Francis, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Patti Lupone, Sammy Davis Jr., Patti Austin and many more.
The performance will be held upstairs at Saketumi, 18814 Coastal Highway in Rehoboth. Dinner seating will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m.; showtime will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Admission is $20. For tickets and more information go to eddieshermanshow.com.
