Edna Beatrice Harmon, dedicated to church, family

August 12, 2019

Edna Beatrice Harmon’s earthly journal began Dec. 28, 1928, and concluded peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019.

Edna and Charlie Harmon were united in holy matrimony June 14, 1975, and were together for 34 years until Charlie passed in 2009.  She received her early childhood education at Harmon School and was employed for many years at Townsends Poultry Plant as a processing inspector, retiring in 1991 after 30 years of service.

Edna was a lifelong resident of Millsboro, and a dedicated and faithful member of Harmony United Methodist Church, serving as an usher and steward until her illness caused her to quietly pass the torch.  She truly enjoyed working in the church’s kitchen prepping for soup day and those delicious chicken and dumpling dinners that Harmony was famous for. She particularly enjoyed traveling with Pastor Nichols to administer Holy Communion.

Edna found great enjoyment in traveling to Sight and Sound in Lancaster, Pa., and visiting her daughters in Newark and Charlotte, N.C.  If Edna wasn’t at home, you could be sure she was at Joe and Marilyn’s helping with different projects.  She was always willing to help in a Godly way.

Edna was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for the smile, hand gesture and gentle presence.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband Charles Harmon, and her parents Amos and Laurel Hall; her son and daughter-in-law Walter Hall Sr. and wife Betty Hall; her brother Everett Hall; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Radia Morris and husband Joseph Morris, and Doris Johnson and husband Eldridge Johnson.

Edna is survived by three children Joseph Howard Hall Sr. (Marilyn), Pamela Clark (Daniel), Sheree McQuate (Larry) and sister-in-law Betty Hall. She leaves to cherish nine grandchildren, Joseph Hall Jr., Jerrin Hall (Tracy), Jason Hall (Kim), Tanya Gibbs (Kimwaun), Walter H. Hall Jr., (Serena) Daniel Clark Jr., Lena Figurelli (Anthony), Jeremy Clark (Lisa), and Nicole Lopez (Sammy); and one stepgranddaughter, Tina Harmon. She leaves 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.  She also had special friends in her life, Mrs. Catherine Bull, Doreen Jackson and Ann Hopkins.

Quietly and peacefully Aug. 6, the Lord in his infinite wisdom summoned an “everlasting angel” to inform his child Edna Beatrice Harmon it was time to mount up like an eagle and fly from the labor to reward.

A viewing will be held from 6 to  8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro.  On Friday, Aug. 16, a funeral service will be held at noon, at Harmony United Methodist Church, 27270 John J. Williams Hwy, Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon for viewing and visitation.  Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society,  PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK  73123.
