Eggcellent on tap for breakfast in Lewes

Eggcellent, a new restaurant serving breakfast and lunch, will open soon on Market Street in Lewes.

Owner Elina Kamalova said she plans to have her small, family-owned place open by the end of June, though it’s tough with COVID-19 restrictions in place.

Kamalova focused on breakfast because it’s referred to as the most important meal of the day. It is also a bonding time for her and her family.

“Breakfast sets you in the right mood and inspires you to do great things,” Kamalova said.

Safety precautions are in place, and signs will be printed for requiring customers to wear masks and for employees to wash their hands every 15-30 minutes.

Kamalova says she hopes the community can come together on a Sunday morning to eat a good breakfast and talk. This is especially important after all of the hard times and people being unable to meet in person, Kamalova said.

Her recommendations from the menu include the Overfalls Burger, named for the Lightship Overfalls, a burger with mushrooms, roasted peppers, spinach and cheese. Other favorites include avocado toast, Norwegian sandwich and Eggcellent salad. 

Eggcellent will also offer takeout.
