Eleanor Soltner Golf Outing raises $23K for Delaware Hospice

September 10, 2014

With the leadership of Frank Solter, Joan Beck, Nancy and Bob Burd, Peggy Dolby, Joe Hall, Wanda Tiedeman and Lucy Mehl, the 2014 Eleanor Soltner Golf Outing, held at the Rookery North, raised $23,000 for patient care at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

“We had great support from the local communities around us," said Golf Outing Committee Chairman Bob Burd. “[We had] 92 golfers from Dover, Milford, Lewes, Georgetown, and Harrington, and other towns. They were there to show their appreciation for Delaware Hospice’s care of their friends or family members, and they enjoy supporting this event because they know it helps folks in their own communities.”

Guests at the Eleanor Soltner Golf Outing enjoyed great weather, a continental breakfast, a Southern barbecue lunch and many silent auction and raffle prizes including a classic Picnic at Ascot basket, a large charcoal grill, a BMW pedal car, wine, jewelry and gift certificates.

Burd thanked Ethel Graham of Friends of Delaware Hospice, Patti Barney of Bayhealth Medical Center, Price Honda & Acura, and the 40 sponsors and 160 businesses and individuals who generously donated items and gift certificates for prizes.

Golfing awards went to Betty Black, Joan Beck, Barb Derue, and Madeline Polhemus for first place in Women’s Foursome; Jim Broadhurst, Mike Cavanaugh, Mary Romberger, and Bob Romberger for first place in Mixed Foursome; and Brian Lord, Jeff Kohel, John Cole and Eddie Downes for first place in Men’s Foursome.
