The Eagles lost in disappointing fashion to the 49ers by the score of the 23-19 on Sunday. Unfortunately, it was a very typical game for this 2025 Eagles team. As they have done most of the season, they play pretty well in the first half on offense, and then they fall apart in the second half. The talented defense gets too tired because they get no rest and it all comes undone.
Even though they were having a decent season, it would have been a big surprise if the Eagles had made it back to the Super Bowl to officially defend the championship this season just simply because of how predictable the offense was. I agree that it was in part because of the injuries to the offensive line. Even in this game, Lane Johnson, the future Hall of Fame right tackle, did not play and others were pretty banged up. For most of the season Jalen Hurts seemed scared to use his legs to pick up significant yards.
The Eagles will have a new offensive coordinator for the sixth time in seven years. It will be interesting to see how the transition goes. I will be rooting for the Buffalo Bills for the rest of the season to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.
The college playoff national championship game will take place on Monday night between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Miami Hurricanes. Miami actually will be playing in the Orange Bowl, which is their part-time home field. It should give them a bit of an advantage. They were a 10 seed in the 12-team field. Indiana is definitely taking advantage of the new college sports landscape. They had been one of the least successful major college football programs in history before the last four or five years when the NCAA programs could openly start paying their college players. If Miami wins, it will definitely be a slight upset victory. Go Hoosiers!
I have been able to attend two Cape Henlopen girls’ basketball games. They are a good team and definitely have a chance to go far in the state tournament. They are the best Cape team since the 2019-20 team that was unable to finish their season because of the outbreak of COVID. The current team has three players who do most of the scoring, and they all play good team defense. I will definitely be attending more home games. The season goes by really fast, ending in early March. Go Vikings!
