Ethel Aurilla Planchock, devoted to family, community
Ethel Aurilla Planchock, 73, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Dec. 2, 1952, in Mount Pocono, Pa., Ethel was the beloved daughter of John Planchock and Aurilla Mae Gilman. She graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1970 and married David A. Schuler. Ethel dedicated her life to her family and community.
Ethel is known for her 40 years of service at Beseckers Diner in Portland and the Snydersville Diner. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her kindness, and her passion for adventure. Ethel found joy in gardening, hosting dinner parties, quilting, giraffes, the beach, theater, and her grandchildren.
Ethel is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Goucher; and her brother, John "Butch" Planchock. She is survived by her children, daughter, Tanya Schuler of Lewes; and son, James D. Schuler of Olyphant, Pa.; her daughter-in-law, Kelly Schuler; her four grandchildren, Alexander Schuler, Eva Schuler, Aydin Schuler-Koltuk and Ayla Schuler-Koltuk; her brother, Herbert Planchock; and her nieces and nephews.
Ethel’s wishes were for a private interment without public service.
