Exhibition on Screen series to feature ‘Munch 150’ starting Feb. 28

February 23, 2024

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society will present the second film in the 2024 Exhibition on Screen film series, “Munch 150,” starting Wednesday, Feb. 28.

In 2013, Norway celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Edvard Munch (1863-1944), one of the towering figures of modern art.

The Munch 150 exhibition was co-hosted by the National Museum and the Munch Museum, both in Oslo. With 220 paintings on display, it brought together the greatest number of Munch’s key works in one place. This event film goes behind the scenes to show the process of putting the exhibition together, as well as providing an in-depth biography of a man who lived from the mid-19th century to the German occupation of Norway in World War II. Special guests will also offer their expert insight and knowledge to host Tim Marlow.

Local arts educator Jamie Moore returns this season to lead EOS post-discussions at the conclusion of each screening. Moore has been a Rehoboth Art League instructor for more than eight years and was involved with Anne Arundel County schools for 30 years.

Exhibition on Screen is the originator of bringing exhibition-based art films to the cinema. Working with top international museums and galleries, EOS creates films that offer a cinematic immersion into the world’s best-loved or underrated artists, accompanied by insights from leading historians and arts critics. The focus of EOS is to introduce the works of history’s greatest painters and provide opportunities to view blockbuster art exhibitions from galleries worldwide.

Admission is $9 for film society members, $11.50 for general public and $5 for students (student tickets only available at the box office).

For all screening times and dates, and to purchase tickets, go to rehobothfilm.com or visit the box office from 12 to 8 p.m., Wednesday to Friday.
