Film screenings continue at Cinema Art Theater

November 14, 2022

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater announced its current screenings include “Good Night Oppy,” “Decision to Leave,” “The Return of Tanya Tucker” and “The Good House.”

“The Good House” is a comedy-drama about two people, one of whom is haunted by past demons, rekindling a romance. Hildy Good (Sigourney Weaver), a wry New England realtor and descendant of the Salem witches, loves her wine and her secrets. Her compartmentalized life begins to unravel as she rekindles a romance with her old high school flame, Frank Getchell (Kevin Kline), and becomes dangerously entwined in one person’s reckless behavior. Igniting long-buried emotions and family secrets, Hildy is propelled toward a reckoning with the one person she’s been avoiding for decades: herself.

“The Return of Tanya Tucker” is a documentary that explores the life and career of a country music legend. The emotional story follows all the artist’s twists and turns on the road to redemption. Tucker, a trailblazing, hell-raising singer, defied the standards of how a woman was supposed to behave. Decades after she slipped from the spotlight, music star Brandi Carlile takes it upon herself to write an album for Tucker, spurring a great comeback in country music history.

“Decision to Leave” is a stirring romantic mystery about a seasoned investigator who becomes obsessed with a murder suspect. Director Park Chan-wook takes audiences to a mountain peak in South Korea, where a man plummets to his death. Did he jump, or was he pushed? When detective Hae-joon arrives on the scene, he begins to suspect the dead man’s wife Seo-rae. But as he digs deeper into the investigation, he finds himself trapped in a web of deception and desire.

“Good Night Oppy” documents the mission to explore the surface of Mars with remote-controlled, unmanned robots. The film follows Opportunity, the Mars exploration rover affectionately dubbed Oppy by its creators and NASA scientists, and the twin rover called Spirit. Oppy was originally expected to operate for only 90 days, but ultimately explored Mars for nearly 15 years. The film also tells the story of the remarkable bond forged between a robot and the humans linked to it from millions of miles away.
