First State Chevrolet donates to breast cancer coalition

January 6, 2020

First State Chevrolet presented a check to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition Dec. 13 in the vehicle showroom in Georgetown.

The donation of $1,085 represented proceeds from First State Chevrolet’s annual trunk or treat event held Oct. 26. The fundraiser was a day full of games, treats, raffles, face painting and safe Halloween activities for children and their families. Tables were staffed by volunteers who gave out treats and educational information from many local businesses and organizations.

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, a statewide nonprofit, offers programs that reach diverse communities to address concerns about breast cancer and early detection. Recognizing the barriers of language, culture, and economics, the coalition trains community advocates through its peer mentor program. It also works to help educate and encourage women and men to take responsibility for their health through breast health presentations and community health fairs. The coalition also helps those with low incomes and those with little or no insurance receive free or reduced-cost care.
