First State Chevrolet event nets $1,900 for breast cancer coalition

February 14, 2023

With proceeds from its inaugural trunk or treat event, First State Chevrolet presented a $1,900 donation to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

During the day full of fun games and safe Halloween activities for children and their families, volunteers gave out information and treats from many local businesses and organizations. Safe, festive entertainment included face painting, raffles and games.

All proceeds from the event were donated to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, a statewide 501c3 nonprofit organization in Delaware.

The coalition’s programs reach diverse communities to address concerns about breast cancer and early detection. Recognizing the barriers of language, culture and economics, DBCC trains community advocates through its peer mentor program. It works to help educate and encourage women and men to take responsibility for their well-being through breast health presentations and community health fairs. The coalition also helps those with low income and those with little or no insurance receive free or reduced-cost care. The vision of the agency is to create a community where every person diagnosed with breast cancer becomes a survivor, and fear and doubt are replaced with knowledge and hope.
