Food Bank to host Farmer and Chef outdoor event Sept. 11
The Food Bank of Delaware will host its second annual The Farmer and The Chef event from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, outdoors in the 3.5-acre garden at its Milford facility.
This culinary celebration brings together the best of Delaware's local agricultural and culinary talent. Local farmers will team up with some of the state's top chefs to create delectable dishes using fresh, locally sourced, Delaware-grown ingredients.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample a wide variety of distinctive and delicious creations while supporting the Food Bank of Delaware’s vital work. Local culinary students, including the Food Bank’s own, will assist restaurants with serving and hospitality.
“As we celebrate the second year of this special event, we are reminded of the powerful partnership between Delaware’s farmers, chefs and the Food Bank of Delaware,” said Cathy Kanefsky, FBD president and CEO. “Together, we’re not just showcasing the flavors of our state, we’re demonstrating how collaboration and community spirit can help ensure that every neighbor has access to good, nutritious food.”
Proceeds will go directly toward supporting food distribution programs that bring assistance to Delawareans who are food insecure.
