Former pro football player Asa Watson to address Grace Church Father/Son Campout Oct. 5-6

September 23, 2018

Asa Watson will be the guest speaker at Grace Church’s Annual Father/Son Campout  Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6. The event begins Friday at 6 p.m., and concludes Saturday at noon.

From 2009-13, Watson was a standout tight end for the N.C. State Wolfpack, where he received a bachelor’s degree in interpersonal and public communication. Following his senior campaign, Watson married his wife Vanessa and enjoyed a brief stint with the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys. After his football days were over, he worked as a NASCAR pit crewman, where God steered him toward collegiate ministry. He has been serving students at the campuses of Winthrop University and Clinton College for the past three years. Grace Church is located at 514 Union St. in Milton, and the public is welcome to join the campout (fathers/sons).

The Annual Father/Son Campout is a masculine church event designed to build the bonds between a father and son, and among fathers and sons. Including a nighttime “ruck-march” (scavenger hunt) Friday night and an amazing obstacle course Saturday following breakfast, the event’s main theme, Overcoming Obstacles, is experienced firsthand as fathers/sons and teams have to work together to complete the course. Participants who complete the course will be awarded with the highly coveted Conqueror’s patch.

Large party tents will be provided (this promotes esprit de corps and allows for those without dad at home a place to camp). Participants should bring a sleeping bag, cot (if desired), change of clothes, flashlight, a “can-do” spirit, and a rucksack (book bag). Come and enjoy the bonfire along with great food and great fun! All meals are included.

The cost of the Father/Son Campout is $20 per participant. Registration is already open on the Grace Church website. Go to gracechurchmilton.org click on the events page, then click the 2nd Annual Father/Son Campout, and click the red HERE. Participants may register up to the day of the event, but register now because the first 10 registrants (sons) receive a free ruck package the day of the event! Inquiries about the event can be made by contacting Pastor Todd or Pastor David at Grace Church 302-684-3580, or emailing staff@gracechurchmilton.org
