Fox and deer photo a sign of the times

October 1, 2024

The image of the fox and the deer in the Sept. 16 edition is not something that brings warm fuzzies to my heart. It, instead, breaks my heart. These poor creatures have long had their homes taken from them over the destruction of their natural habitat, so humans can have McMansions, pools, clubhouses, walking trails, etc., which, of course, brings more infrastructure and traffic.

Years ago, it would be hard to find a dead fox in the road. It's an everyday sight these days. There is more wildlife seen as well due to this clearing out of woods and natural space; opossums, skunks, turtles and squirrels are seen more and more, their lives taken as they scatter to find another place to live. When is enough enough?
