Frankford man faces murder charge
A Frankford man has been charged with murder following a Nov. 24 incident.
Police charged Jeremiah Handy, 38, with first-degree murder, first-degree attempt to commit murder, and two counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. Handy was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $850,000 cash bond.
On Nov. 24, Delaware State Police responded at 1:10 a.m. to the 30200 block of Frankford School Road for a report of gunshots, and they found two men lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Police said the two Millsboro men were riding a Honda four-wheeler when it collided with a Mercedes-Benz SUV. The Millsboro men were thrown from the four-wheeler. Gabriel Dorman, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man, 20, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition but has since been released.
Police said a report of shots fired at a nearby residence was unfounded, and also said Handy was the sole occupant of the SUV after previously reporting there was a passenger. Handy was arrested at his home with no incident, police said.
