Freeman Stage to host a cappella quartet Blue Jupiter Nov. 5 at Del Tech

October 25, 2011

The Joshua M. Freeman Foundation and The Freeman Stage at Bayside will present Blue Jupiter, a pop-jazz-funk a cappella quartet, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5. The performance will be held in the theater of the Arts & Science Center at Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown as part of its 2011 Off Stage Series.

Blue Jupiter first gained national fame as the voice of Oreo Cookie, singing the national Oreo radio commercial since 2005. Since then, Blue Jupiter has worked with famed producer and "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson, sung with Livingston Taylor and performed on "Oprah" and VH1's "Save the Music." The group has headlined charity events for the American Cancer Society, The Red Cross, Braking the Cycle, Hartford Children's Hospital and many others. Blue Jupiter has been voted audience favorite multiple times at the Harmony Sweepstakes and has appeared at countless National Association of Campus Activities showcases including the 2008 national showcase in St. Louis.

Blue Jupiter’s energetic blend of pop lead vocals, jazzy a cappella harmony and funky beatbox has garnered standing ovations in over 40 states and around the world.

This latest event to be held at Delaware Tech is part of a continued partnership between the college and The Freeman Foundations, both of which are committed to bringing rich cultural experiences to the area while also giving back to their communities. Tickets for the Blue Jupiter performance are $10 each, and should be purchased ahead of time at www.freemanstage.org due to an expected large turnout that evening. The Owens Campus is conveniently situated at the intersection of Route 113 and Seashore Highway, Route 18/404 in Georgetown.
