Friendship UMC group supports State Police backpack program

Friendship United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School students collected and donated money for the Delaware State Police's backpack program for children in need. Capt. Joshua A. Bushweller and Officer Juanita Huey-Smith of the Delaware State Police enjoyed fellowship Aug. 16 with the Rev. George W. Fisher Sr. and the congregation of Friendship United Methodist Church for their Annual Back 2 School Bash.

During Vacation Bible School, the youth of Friendship UMC participated in an outreach program called Kid to Kid. Together they collected $220 and voted to purchase school supplies for other children in need. A radio ad promoting the Delaware State Police Community Outreach program known as Operation: Troopers Have Your BACKpack was heard, and the children chose it as their beneficiary.

Fisher, the officers and members of Friendship United Methodist Church in Long Neck would like to thank the Delaware State Police for their participation in the Annual Back 2 School Bash and for all they do for the local community.
