Brian Fuller, 37, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., warehoused the following field of 340 runners and a peloton of pooches Aug. 5 in Dewey Beach at the 15th annual Race for the Paws 5K and 1-Mile Dog Walk.

Fuller, who ran 15:24, is undefeated in the dozen races he has run in Dewey, where the family vacations once a year.

“I manage a warehouse for an occupation,” he said. “I'm able to train and stay injury-free, but the chase pack is getting closer.”

Dylan Smiley, 25, ran 15:42, and Colton Morris, 21, ran 15:51, but neither got up on the shoulder of Fuller to push the pace.

“I did a long run yesterday, came through the mile in like seventh place and had to work my way back the last two miles,” Smiley said.

Morris said, “Today was my first 5K in a while where I was able to push it hard as a result of my training.”

Mike Wardian, 49, who shows no lingering limber-limiting effects of his crazy ultra running endeavors, ran 16:31 to capture the male masters title.

Runners rounding out the top nine were: Kevin Fuller, 35, 16:44; Dan Squicciarin, 20, 17:10; Mark Fuller, 32, 17:16; Joey Andrisani, 40, 18:02; and Martin Rodriguez, 41, 18:09.

The female finish was also filled with Fullers, including winner Mary Fuller, 35, 18:25.

“Not my fastest,” said Mary, who is married to Kevin. “But having two kids cuts back on training time.”

Following Mary were Emily Fuller, 34, 18:29; Genevieve DiBari, 23, 19:15; Isabelle Walsh, 17, 19:26; Kenyetta Iyevbele, 30, 19:46; Katie Fuller, 31, 20:10; masters champion Liz Burch, 44, 20:15; Alex Lohse, 16, 20:18; Maria DiBari, 19, 20:19; and Stacie Minchoff, 39, 20:31.

The top 20 runners broke 20 minutes, while the top 93 ran under 25 minutes.

The next Seashore Striders races are Maggie’s Mile Friday, Aug. 11, on the Cape Henlopen High School track followed by the Run for JJ Sunday, Aug. 13.
