December 2, 2019

The Thanksgiving day Gabby Gobble 5K at Irish Eyes in Lewes, featured three heats of the Kiddie K, an all-time record, followed by 804 runners and walkers.

Small craft flags were flying. The good news was that the strong wind was northwest and at the backs of runners on their return to the finish chute.

The two overall winners, Daniel Peters (16:54) and Sarah McShane (20:19), are a single item, spending Thanksgiving in Lewes at the home of McShane’s parents.

The top 12 runners in the race broke 20 minutes, while the top 300 were under 30 minutes.

The top five leaderboard for men after Peters were: Caiden Leen in 17:01, Trent Sewell in 17:47, Mike Marciano in 18:35 and Evan Cantemiry in 18:42.

The top five women following McShane were: Laura Larsen in 20:51, Katir Pokorny in 21:39, Natalie Quigley in 21:47 and Becca Johnson in 22:02.

There were 90 runners 13 and under highlighted by Owen Brosious, 10, of Broomfield, Colo., who ran 20:50.

And there were 79 total runners 60 years and older, highlighting the multi-generational profile of the race. A complete list of expanded results can be found on races2run.com.
