Gallo Gives Foundation presents community donations

As part of its continual effort to make a difference in the community in which its associates live and serve, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty’s Gallo Gives Foundation made donations to area nonprofits totaling $16,250 during its most recent giving campaign.

Cancer Support Community was given $2,000 in support of its mission to ensure all people affected by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community.

La Red Health Center received $2,000. A federally qualified health center, La Red provides culturally competent healthcare in Sussex County,

Food Bank of Delaware was awarded $2,000. Through its network of statewide partners, FBD distributes nourishing food, and helps individuals and families gain long-term financial stability by providing job training, nutrition education, financial coaching, SNAP outreach and legislative advocacy. 

Friends of Sussex CASA received $2,000 The group provides children experiencing foster care in Sussex County with birthday gifts, and enrichment and social development opportunities that might not otherwise be available through state funding. It also supports tailored training for court-appointed special advocates, who volunteer countless hours to be a voice for Delaware’s abused and neglected children.

Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company received $1,500 in support of its Fire Fightn’ 5K fundraiser. RBVFC continually serves and protects Rehoboth Beach and surrounding areas.

Celebrate Wellness received $500 to support access to mental health resources and education for hospitality workers.

Developing Artist Collaboration received $500. Its innovative programming, professional development and public engagement initiatives enable artists to thrive creatively and financially.

Free Bikes 4 Kidz received $500. The nonprofit provides bikes to kids in need so they can ride into happier, healthier childhood experiences. The public donates gently used bikes that volunteers clean up and refurbish to give away to nonprofits serving area youth.

Frankford Public Library received a $250 donation to expand its book collection.

Two $2,500 scholarships were awarded to local students. Melisa Yadira Velasquez-Zunun, a Sussex Central High School graduate, will pursue business studies in college. Mackenzie Aleigha Harmon, a Sussex Academy graduate, will study environmental science in college.

The Gallo Gives Foundation is a charitable arm of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty that is managed by the Greater Lewes Foundation. Most of the funds are contributed by the agents and staff of PenFed Realty, and the company matches all contributions 100%. Established in 2016 by the original owners of the real estate firm, the Gallo Gives Foundation has donated more than $325,000 to local and worldwide charitable organizations.
