Neighbors from the Belle Terre community in Lewes recently traveled to South Africa with the Elephant Educational Initiative and its founder, Heather Kasey. The group began their journey in Cape Town before heading to the vineyards of Boschendal and L’Avenir. From there, they continued to two private safari game reserves, Thula Thula and Shamwari, where they experienced unforgettable, up‑close encounters with wildlife in their natural habitat. The Gazette made the journey too, proving it can endure long flights, safari dust, and being read in some very adventurous places. Shown from (l-r) are John King, Robin Braver, Paul Barrow, Susan Kasey, Joan Barrow, tour guide Patrick, Becky Goodman, Jack Kasey, Heather Kasey, Moe Burns, tour guide Sinclair and Jim Bonnes.
