The Gazette visits O’Leary with the O’Learys

August 19, 2023

Jim and Rose Ann O'Leary traveled to Canada in June, including to the province of Prince Edward Island (PEI), where the town of O'Leary is located. The town is named after one of its earliest settlers, Michael O'Leary (distant relative?), who came from Ireland in 1837. A small town with 876 residents, O'Leary is home to the surprisingly interesting Canadian Potato Museum. Potatoes are the primary cash crop on PEI, and the island is the largest potato-producing province in Canada.
