George B. Robinson Sr., World War II vet
George B. Robinson Sr., 88, of West Chester, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at home.
He was the husband of the late Betty Killgore Robinson, who died in 2005. Born in Newark, he was the son of the late Conrad and Clare Moore Robinson.
He was a World War II veteran, where he was stationed in Europe with the U.S. Army. George was a commercial painter and wallpaper hanger and a former deputy chief and life member of the Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Company in Newark.
He was a deacon in a Nags Head Church, Nags Head, N.C. He was a member of the West Chester Area Senior Center and a volunteer at the Chester County Hospital.
George is survived by three children: George B. Robinson Jr. of Newark, Franklin R. Robinson Sr. (Monica) of Lewes, and Sallie Robinson of Bear; four stepsons: James W. Killgore of West Chester, Gary T. Killgore (Diane) of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Roy Killgore (Kim) of West Chester and with whom George lived, and Craig Killgore (Cheryl) of Kill Devil Hills; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Robinson, formerly of Newark; and a faithful companion, Norma Milner of West Chester.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Arthur and Elsworth Robinson, and Katherine Teague.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
