George E. Tunnell Sr. owned trucking business
George E. Tunnell Sr. was born Dec. 18, 1951, to the late Alfred and Deanner L. Tunnell of Belltown. George departed this life Tuesday, March 28, 2017, with his wife by his side.
George graduated Lewes High School in 1969. He was a hard worker and very independent. At an early age, George worked the family clamming business (to buy his first new car). George also owned his own trucking business (which he loved). George also enjoyed landscaping; just meeting people (George loved to talk); and of course, fishing was his passion, like his father.
George was joined in holy matrimony to Miss Karen Gidens Sept. 22, 1971. To this union four children were born. He loved his family, He adored interacting with them, teaching them, helping as well as challenging them when he felt it would benefit them to be successful.
George was a member of Mt. Zion Holy Church, Milton.
George was preceded in death by two brothers, Hezekiah Tunnell and Alfred Tunnell Jr.; one sister, Wynell Prescott; and one granddaughter, Monica Tunnell.
George is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Tunnell of Nassau; four daughters, Violet Frazier of Long Neck, Albertina R. Tunnell of Nassawadox, Va., Michelle D. Nichols (Roy) of Seaford, and Courtney D. Tunnell of Lewes; and one son, George E. Tunnell Jr. of Nassau.
George leaves to cherish his memories six grandsons, Antonio Frazier, Christopher Tunnell, Tyran Tunnell, Johnathan Tunnell, George Tunnell III and Isaiah Tunnell; five granddaughters, Zadaya Tunnell, Zanynia Tunnell, Zaigeya Tunnell, Journey White and Jada White; three great-grandsons, Liam Tunnell, Aysson Tunnell and Zyhem Rogers; four great-granddaughters, Kensley Tunnell, Amiyah Tunnell, Ja'Onna Hall and Zynyia Rogers; two sisters, Linda Glass (Larry) of Jonesboro, Ga., and Clarice Boyer (Dwayne) of Millsboro; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Tunnell of Dover; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Only one life and it will soon pass, only what we do for Christ will last. We Love you but God loves you best.
